No, it wasn’t easy. The most challenging parts were dealing with repeated delays and requests for additional documentation from my insurer. It is one of the worst experiences of my life. I won’t mention the broker, but I will not be insuring with them again.

Did you have to get any help from others to get this claim over the line?
Yes, I considered getting a loss assessor to deal with the insurance company but luckily, I have a friend who is an insurance broker, and they had the expertise to push the insurer for action. Their experience and advice were invaluable in speeding up key approvals, such as tenant relocation and strip-out works.
Are you happy with how your insurance company have settled the claim in the end?
The claim isn’t fully settled yet, but I’m pleased with the progress now that approvals for major works and tenant relocation are in place.
