REFERRAL CASE STUDY: RESTORING A CHINESE RESTAURANT AFTER IMPACT DAMAGE

Tangs Chinese Restaurant was introduced to Action Insurance Repair by one of our loyal customers, following accidental impact damage.

The restaurant owner had made a property repair claim through their insurance company but was struggling to find contractors to quote for all the different repair elements required. The loyal customer, also one of our referral partners, knew that we could help!

Background

A delivery driver to the hardware store located behind the store accidentally reversed into the front of the restaurant, causing damage to the gable wall, the front wall and window, the entrance ramp, and the overhead canopy.

The restaurant owner had filed a property repair claim through their insurance company but the complexity of the repairs – from structural fixes to aesthetic elements – made it difficult for them to find contractors who could provide itemised quotes that matched the insurance company’s requirements.

Our approach

  • AIR was introduced and upon assessment, we quickly understood the complexity of the job, which required expertise in structural and masonry repair, window replacement, as well as cosmetic improvements.
  • We provided a comprehensive quote, itemised for the different repairs, which was approved by the insurance company due to being presented correctly and competitively priced, allowing the project to proceed without delays.
  • The 3rd party insurer for the delivery driver’s company required a structural survey which uncovered extra damage – a crack in the gable end which only became clear when plaster was removed.
  • The insurers paid the full settlement to the owner of Tangs, so we were able to deal directly with them as we would with any private client.

Schedule of works:

  • Replacing the aluminium window.
  • Repairing the split face tiling, the ramp and parapet wall.
  • The crack to the gable wall was repaired and the rendering replaced.
  • Decorations to the gable, front and the porch ad waiting rooms inside, plus some electrical work.

What a result!

Being a restaurant, Tangs opens at 5pm each day, so we were able to work on the repairs during the day, allowing them to continue serving their loyal customers in the evenings – including our referrer!

The businesses’ repairs were completed successfully to a high standard, within budget, and the insurance process was streamlined, thanks to our experienced approach.
